ENVIRONMENT
We are a true pioneer of sustainable and environmentally
sound development and are an accredited Greensmart Developer.
In Victoria our Sanctuary Lakes Resort and Sandhurst Club projects
are evidence and testimony to our environmental achievements. At
Sanctuary Lakes about half of the initial site that was gifted
to the State Government now forms a nature sanctuary managed
by Parks
Victoria and protected under the international RAMSAR Treaty. LinksLiving
not only totally restored the balance of this degraded site and
built a 60 hectare inland lake, but were also able to sensitively
integrate
new residences into this environment whilst protecting the wetlands
and migratory bird sanctuary adjacent.
At Sandhurst Club a polluted rural drain and degraded farmland
was restored to a series of waterways and integrated golf course.
400
year-old river gum trees have been protected, wetlands with native
species have been reintroduced and abundant birdlife is returning.
We are the first developer in Victoria to introduce the use of ‘A’ class
recycled water for residential purposes (in toilets and on gardens)
in addition to its use on all parks and gardens and golf course.
The Victorian Government has recognised the long-term benefits of
water conservation and is promoting Sandhurst Club as a model of
what can be achieved.
Sanctuary Lakes Resort has received several environmental awards
including:
- 2003 UDIA (Victoria) Environmental Excellence
- 2004 UDIA (Aust) National Environmental Excellence
- 2004 HIA National Greensmart Development of the Year
Sandhurst Club has also been awarded for it’s environmental
innovation
- 2005 UDIA (Vic), Water Sensitive Urban Design.
- 2005 UDIA (Vic), Environmental Excellence.
